Privacy notice
Effective November 3, 2026
Midwest Private Detectives™ LLC (“we”) is a private investigation agency in Minnesota. This notice explains what personal information we collect through this website and the client portal, what we do with it, and what you can ask of us. It does not describe the information we gather while carrying out an investigation. That work is governed by the law that applies to it and by the agreement with the client who engaged us.
What we collect
If you contact us. Your name, email address, phone number and the message you write.
If you apply to work with us. Your name, email address, phone number and what you tell us about yourself.
If you are a client. The details of your engagement, the information and documents you give us or that we prepare for you, your messages with us, and your invoices and payment status. Your portal account holds your email address, and your sign-in is protected by a password and, if you turn it on, an authenticator code.
Payments. Card payments are taken by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
Technical information. Like any website, our hosting provider records the address of your device, the page requested and the time. We use it to keep the site working and to detect abuse.
How we use it
To answer your inquiry, consider your application, provide and bill for our services, keep our systems secure, and meet our legal and professional obligations. We do not use personal information from this website for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the firm, and they handle information on our behalf only for that purpose: website hosting, our database and document storage, email delivery, payment processing, accounting, a bot check on our forms, malware scanning of uploaded documents, and our business email and files.
We may disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the safety or rights of others, or with your permission. For a client matter we share information only as the engagement requires.
Cookies
We use only the cookies the site needs: those that keep you signed in to the client portal, protect your session and end it after a period of inactivity. The bot check on our forms may set its own technical cookie. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
How we protect it
Information is encrypted in transit and when stored, access is limited to the people who need it and is recorded, the most sensitive fields are encrypted separately, and uploaded files are scanned for malware. No system can be made perfectly secure, so we also keep backups and a plan for responding to incidents.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiries and applications for as long as we need them for the purpose they were given. Client records are kept for the period the law and the engagement require, and are archived and not casually deleted, because we may need them to show what was done and why.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@mpdetectives.net and tell us who you are. We will answer within a reasonable time. We cannot delete information we are required to keep or that is part of a client matter, and we will tell you when that is the case.
This website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
We may update this notice. The effective date above shows when it last changed.
